On October 30, 2000, the monetary authorities of Tajikistan introduced a new currency: the ""Somoni"" (ISO CODE: TJS), equivalent to 1000 Tajik rubles (TJR). The Somoni exchange rate is fixed at 2.20 TJS per USD.
