Zimbabwe currency : Zimbabwe Dollar

Zimbabwe Dollar is the basic unit of currency of Zimbabwe. The currency ISO code is ZWL.Independant floating rate since April, 30, 2008.

New Zimbabwe Dollar managed floating rate since October 21, 2005 replacing weekly auction rate system used since January 12, 2004 and introduction of a band of fluctuation by one percent in either direction from a mid-rate.

From February 1, 2009, the new Zimbabwe dollar is effective with ISO code ZWL. 12 zeros are dropped from the dollar. 1 ZWL = 1000 billions ZWR. On August, 1, 2008 The ZWR replaced the ZWD on the base of 1 ZWR = 10 billions ZWD. From January 2009, the zimbabweens are allowed to conduct businnes in other currencies alongside the zimbabwean dollar, such as american dollar, euro, british pound, south african rand and Botswana pula.
