Libyan Dinar is the basic unit of currency of Libya. The currency ISO code of Libyan Dinar is LYD.
The official exchange rate of Libyan Dinar is pegged to the SDR since March, 1986 within a 25% margin of fluctuation around the fixed central rate. The Government of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya has accepted the obligations of Article VIII, Section 2, 3, and 4 of the IMF Articles of Agreement, with effect from June 21st, 2003. By Article VIII, Section 2, 3, and 4, IMF members undertake not to impose restrictions on the making of payments and transfers for current international transactions,and not to engage in any discriminatory currency arrangement or multiple currency practice, except with IMF approval.
