Israeli Sheqel is the basic unit of currency of Israel. The currency ISO code of Israeli Sheqel is ILS. Sheqel has an independent floating exchange rate since June 9, 2005.

On June 9, 2005, Israel has decided to end immediately the use of an exchange rate band for the sheqel so that its foreign exchange regime can be classified as a free market.
