Hong Kong Dollar is the basic unit of currency of Hong Kong China. The currency code of Hong Kong Dollar is HKD.

On May 18, 2005, Hong Kong announced a trading band for the dollar set between HKD 7.75 and 7.85.

Since October 17, 1983, the Hong Kong Dollar was pegged to the USD at USD 1 = HKD 7.80. The peg with the USD is insured by a currency board system. The exchange regime and the HKD parity against the USD shows a remarkable resistance to the 90s financial crisis (especially 97's) until today.
