The Burundi Franc is the basic unit of Burundi. Burundi Franc's currency code is BIF. The Burundi Franc (BIF) replaced the Rwanda-Burundi Franc (RBF) on May 19, 1964 at par, resulting in an official rate of BIF 50.00 per US dollar.

Since 1992, the Burundi Franc's peg was changed from the SDR to a basket of currencies reflecting the country's international trade. Depreciation by 16,3 % against USD in 2006.
