Bolivar Fuerte is the basic unit of currency of Venezuela. The currency ISO code of Bolivar is VEF. On January, 8, 2010 , the Venezuela devalued the bolivar currency setting two new rates of 2.6 and 4.3 against the dollar. The rate of 2.6 applies to priority sectors and the rate of 4.3 for others transactions. On January 1, 2008, The Bolivar Fuerte took the place of the Bolivar at a rate of 1 VEF = 1000 VEB.
